Designmuseum in Copenhagen, Denmark
The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls. -Pablo Picasso
I went to Denmark this summer to spend my time with my friend. In those four days of vacation, I've been to different kinds of museums both in Kolding and Copenhagen. In that sense, Designmuseum in Copenhagen gave me an enlightenment tremendously. From furniture design to contemporary art, Designmuseum contains a huge spectrum to observe. That opened a new perspective in my mind about the mixture of arts in different levels; like items of furniture and posters.
With the effect of being on the northern side of Europe, the modernity in the furniture-making process was speechless. The creative way of making furniture in Denmark is like a proof that art is located in very different ways of life. Plus, Designmuseum in Copenhagen made me understood that it is possible to observe how the society acts in different levels, it can be on something very basic to complex. As far as I understand from my trip to Denmark, the Danish culture is so eager to develop itself and also beyond the expectations. The main point which makes the Danish culture, therefore the Danish people more eager to develop themselves is the perfect balance between maturity
and child-like actions and thoughts. I strongly believe that balance is the perfect way to improve something. It can be on our actions and the arts. It is possible to see the "Danish" perfect balance in those pieces of furniture which are located in that design museum in Copenhagen.
I don't believe that humans should make a decision in between logic and emotions. The combination or it is possible to say that the balance of logic and emotions may bring better consequences afterward. From items of furniture to fashion designing, the museum gave more strength to my opinion about the balance between logic and emotions.
The human brain works as a binary computer and can only analyze the exact information-based zeros and ones (or black and white). Our heart is more like a chemical computer that uses fuzzy logic to analyze information that can't be easily defined in zeros and ones. -Naveen Jain
Another thing which I found so powerful in Designmuseum is how they make a connection with different cultures. There is a cliche saying that we live in an international world, but actually the background of this saying is so true and deep, according to my perspective. I had a chance to observe some artworks in the museum which are coming from different parts of Europe such as France, Italy, Germany, and Turkey. Plus, it was possible to observe the creations coming from different artists from different cultures as well such as India, Indonesia and more. The diversity contains a tremendous unity, which made me feel so amazed. Also, it is true that the combination of those different cultures and, therefore the understandings, is reflecting the life in Copenhagen and, also in a general sense: the life in today's world.
It gives a great chance to discover a new perspective and empower the awareness in terms of going global. I had a chance to observe the revolutionary side of the French culture during my visit to Designmuseum as well. The picture located on the above is from that part of the museum. This opportunity which museum is giving is speechless because it opens so many doors to understand characteristic structures of different cultures and, according to my idea, this leads a tremendous role in order to become more global and eager to embrace people worldwide.
In a summary, I totally recommend you to visit Designmuseum in Copenhagen which is near to Nyhavn. It is a great opportunity to increase and empower our perspectives by observing different ways of art which are coming from different cultures that contains a unity inside.
