Protecting and Understanding Street Art
The street art movement is one of the most debatable subjects under the concept of "arts". Both rejected and agreed, street art has become one of the key facts of contemporary art. As an historical background, street art movement became fully visible especially at the beginning of the 21st century. The main origination point relies on an understanding of "art is everything, therefore it is possible to create art out of canvas". This idea makes the street art movement more complex and interdisciplinary. There is no certain technique and way to create art. The topics of street art, therefore, contains a tremendous spectrum inside. It can be something about politics, nature, economy. The list is huge. However, with a wide perspective on the topics of street art, there is a solid tendency that most artworks of the street art contain public aspects. According to my point of view, the reason relies on the fact that street art gets its own energy from the "streets"; therefore public in many ways. So, it is possible to observe a country's position both in an external way and internal way.
The reason which triggered me to write about the street art is that, unfortunately, it is possible to see that many people don't even give an importance to this new art movement. I was walking down the street which has many artworks on the walls. I saw that these artworks got damage so much that it was actually impossible to observe the real version of these artworks. Art is a very subjective area of human life with so many genres located inside. Some genres may not originate a bond to some people but other genres can. However, even that genre is not linked to people, it is actually a chance to connect with other peoples who love these genres because a bond means their "personality". It is possible to understand peoples by trying to understand other genres of art, but also protecting them. There is a cumulative understanding that when people try and protect to those genres, it will be possible to understand the aspects of the world. Because people are actually showing how the world works.
The street art movement, therefore, deserves to be understood and protected. There is no need to see an artwork on canvas only. I believe that every corner of life deserves to be the "canvas" of imagination and thoughts. Away from giving damage, we have to embrace the inner structures of different kinds of arts, therefore we have to embrace the street art.
